NOW PICKING: JONAGOLD (see prices below) Come to the farm from September 19 - November 8 to pick your own delicious and fresh apples right from our dwarf apple orchard. The trees are loaded with fruit that is easy for even the youngest picker to reach without so much as a step ladder. You may buy pre-bagged fruit from our store or produce stand when in season from September 1st - Mid December.Bags are provided at the store in three sizes: 5 lbs, 10 lbs, or 25 lbs.For prices of U-pick apples please see below. ...the farm is full of activities that make the Autumn season worth looking forward to. In 1940 the Great Grandfather John decided to farm the fertile soils in the south part of Abbotsford. Grandson Loren and his wife Corinne have continued the farming with orchards full of crisp sweet apples. Twenty-one years ago they decided to open the farm to the public and now offer all kinds of

Cider F.A.Q. 's

What is apple cider? * Raw apple juice that has not been filtered so it may appear cloudy (like pulp in orange juice). * It is a natural product made from apples alone that has NO sugar, water, or chemical preservatives.What is unique about Applebarn cider versus store bought apple juice? * Most of our cider is made from a blend of apples containing Jonagold apples. * We use tree ripened sweet fruit. * There is NO sugar, water or preservatives. * We use a UV treatment process which allows us to make the juice safe for drinking without using heat and destroying flavour ("light pasteurization").How long does cider stay fresh? * Cider is a fresh product and must be refrigerated. * It can last a maximum of two weeks in the refrigerator or over a year in the freezer. (When freezing, simply pour off one to two cups to allow for expansion)Where can you buy Applebarn apple cider? * In the Fall at the Applebarn Store open from Sept. 1 - Dec. 23. * Almost all year around at our self-serve produce stand on Gladwin Road. * At the Abbotsford Farmer's Market from mid May to mid October.

Pressing fresh apples into cider has become a tradition at the Applebarn since we bought our first wooden press in 1991.

The flavour of apple juice just after it has been squeezed from the apple is captured and bottled here at the farm. We welcome our customers to come on weekends and watch the making of apple cider from a theater window in our store.

All our cider is cleaned using a state-of-the-art ultra violet treatment, rendering the juice safe to drink without using heat to ruin the flavour! You can then enjoy our cider hot and spiced, as a slushy or just the way it is after it's pressed! Samples are always available, so don't hesitate to ask for a cup.

School Tours

Nothing beats a Fall field trip at The Applebarn Pumpkin Farm. The fresh Autumn air and the smell of new apples coupled with a dazzling display of seasonal colours is something no one should miss. Corinne and Farmer John, both certified school teachers, have been working with teachers to provide a first class educational school tour since 1991 at the Taves' farm. Not only do the children learn about the life cycles of apples, pumpkins and honey bees, they also get to enjoy a hay ride to the pumpkin patch and a time to hug the goats and pet the bunnies. The old fashioned apple sorting machine is another unique feature of our tour where kids watch how in yesteryear apples were sized from small to large. A slice of a crunchy farm grown apple and a cup of freshly pressed pasteurized cider is always a welcome treat after viewing the cider press and learning how apples and cider are produced here on the farm.It's educational and best of all, a lot of fun! Birthday PartiesWhy not celebrate your young ones fall birthday at The Applebarn? You bring the cake and we provide a fun, reasonably priced place for the kids to play for two hours or more! Come out on a weekend and the kids can enjoy the petting barn, bunny town, jumping pillow, hay ride, tractor trail, zip line, playground and slides. Just give us a call to reserve a table for two hours for your party.F.A.Q.'sDo you have a covered area and bathrooms?Yes.Do you have food?Yes, we have hotdogs, popcorn, chips and pop are available. You CAN bring your own food, but please no BBQ's.What is the cost and what is included?The cost to reserve a covered picnic table (seats 8 kids) is $40. This includes the birthday child and one adult's fun pass. Every child and adult attending the party will also need a fun pass, and passes and table reservations must be paid for in advance. All birthday parties must meet their guests at the gate, and enter the Applebarn as a group. If you pre-pay for guests that do not arrive you can turn in your un-used wrist bands for a refund. When reserving two or more covered tables the rate is $30 per table. Decorations and table coverings are not included in your reservation. Please refer to the activities page for fun pass rates. Do adults pay?Yes.
